Last week we went and did a small distribution for our Boards for Bros charity in the ghetto in Tampa. Those hood kids are so damn nice. They changed it up a bit when they realized I was filming, though.

This week, we continued giving out the boards at the 2001 strip club. TechDeck hooked it up and we passed them out to the kids through Santa’s Strippers and Toys for Tatas program. Thanks Bubba the Love Sponge for all the Skatepark of Tampa callouts and putting Clements on the air for a bit.

Here’s a few minutes of video from those two adventures.

This was all filmed and edited on an iPhone 4S and iMovie.

Today we started our rounds in the ghetto giving out all the used skateboards we collected all year long. Every time we go to the rough part of the hood, I forget there are so many culture differences it feels like you’re in another country. One of the most obvious ones is that the entire neighborhood is generally welcoming and curious about strangers like us. They’re all outside and hanging out with each other. When I think of your average uptight white neighborhood, I picture high fences, privacy concerns, strangers treated as “guilty” until proven “innocent” and other things that are generally the opposite of the environment these kids are growing up in. Interesting stuff. I hope some of these kids get hooked on skateboarding like I did. It sure kept me out of most trouble growing up. Most.
