Nike Skateboarding Offices and Random Bid’niss

Clements, Schaefer, and I just got back from meetings with all our friends at Nike SB regarding Skatepark of Tampa and SPoT Productions. We’re planning everything from Tampa Am and Pro, to the future of our partnership, to the execution of our 20-Year Anniversary coming up at the end of the year and more. Here’s a bit behind the scenes and a short tour of the Nike offices.

A few skateboard photos from my favorite little spot down the street from where I live.

Tampa Pro 2012 Behind the Scenes: Lil Wayne, Chaz Ortiz, Sean Malto, Harmony Korine, Ryan Sheckler and all the ruckus as seen through my iPhone all weekend.

I’m dead tired and exhausted from the weekend and yet another long ass workday, but for some reason I remain on the keyboard. Here are a few I enjoyed taking from the weekend of Tampa Pro.

In this episode of Rob Meronek’s Cell Phone Edits, my neice Jasmine and friend Laina were super hyped to meet Ryan Sheckler. Of course I had to tease them a bit before introducing them. Thanks Ryan for putting up with our silly requests.

Trailer for That One Dude’s Cell Phone Edits: I’m taking this whole cell phone edit thing way too far like all the other jokes I come up with to entertain myself. I just tested out the new iMovie for iPhone today and made this trailer for all my summer blockbusters coming out. Oh, and I started a new production company, PenisaurusRex Productions. Make room, Hollywood. I’m cumming at you. Rawr!

On a technical note, it’s amazing that this can be 100% made on a cell phone. Fuck.

When we landed at LAX, it was 1am our time. It was a two hour drive to Mike Mo’s house where we arrived and went straight to the local bar in his little hometown of Simi Valley, The Arena. What a scene. After shutting that down and then having heavy metal parking lot lurk for yet another hour out front, Schaefer, HiDefJoe, and I were up for well over 24 hours still trying to hold it down. After a few hours of sleep camping out in Mike Mo’s living room, we woke them up, headed to the Girl/Chocolate facility, then on to Tony Hawk’s house two hours away. In less than 24 hours, so much shit went down. Here’s the view as seen and edited on my iPhone. HiDefJoe will have the legit version of this as a SPoT Life episode out soon at skateparkoftampa.com/SPoTLife.

Today we had the pleasure of skating with Tony Hawk in his backyard.

The first episode of SPoT Life is out. Clements has the introduction to what we’re all up to and “we’re just getting started” could not be more true.

Rolled through University of Tampa and downtown Tampa, including a stop at my favorite little crusty skate spot, Turtle Ditch. These were all shot with the Nikon D3S.

John Montesi has the all the old skateboard stunts. I sorta wish these tricks would become cool again.

Skatepark of Tampa has a show on the YouTube Ride Channel starting up this year that will cover all the skateboard antics we get mixed up in. Here’s the bumper for the show. Subscribe right here.

I attached this thing to the nose of my skateboard and pushed around through the neighborhood here. I guess it doesn’t attach too well on a scraped up nose. It broke off and took a tumble on a boardslide at the bus bench ledges. The case is all banged up but the camera still works fine. Back to the drawing board for now.

New Year’s Day started out mellow at Seamus’ ramp until Schaefer brough gasoline to the fireworks pit. Here’s a minute of it and how the world ended in 2012 with a huge explosion on the flat bottom. Filmed and edited on an iPhone 4s.
